Roaring Brook Nature Center offers a wide variety of programs including homeschool programs, summer / school vacation programs, scout programs, birthday parties, and club presentations.
Open year-round, the Nature Center’s interpretive center offers visitors opportunities for observation of local flora and fauna through the seasons. Five miles of marked trails through adjacent Werner’s Woods take the hiker over wooded hillsides, across picturesque fields, and along streams and ponds.
School Groups
Bringing a Breath of Fresh Air to the Standards!
Roaring Brook Nature Center offers a wide variety of programs that can take place either at the center or at your school. The Center itself has a small interpretive building and 5 miles of hiking trails on about 100 acres of a state owned wildlife preserve.
Homeschool
The Nature Center has a series of classes especially for home schoolers. Roaring Brook Nature Center can also adapt any of our school programs for your home school group visit to the Nature Center.
Explore the wonders of our woods, fields, and stream. Each class will investigate a different aspect of a central theme, complete with hands-on experiments & plenty of time outdoors. Classes comply with CT State Science Standards for Pre-K to Grade 2.
Holiday & Vacation Programs
Roaring Brook Nature Centers offers a variety of programs for students K- Grade 5 during the December, February, and April school vacations.
Summer Discovery Programs
Roaring Brook Nature Center’s Summer Discovery Programs offer your child a unique blend of education and recreation that takes advantage of the curiosity and sense of wonder that all children feel toward the natural world.
Scout Programs
Leaders of Daisy, Brownie, and Junior Girl Scout Troops, as well as Cub Scout Troops, will find that numerous badge requirements may be fulfilled by a visit to Roaring Brook Nature Center.
Club Programs
The Nature Center staff have a variety of presentations available that may be of interest to your club or civic organization.
