Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) applies to www.thechildrensmuseumct.org, and The Children’s Museum Group (“Organization”) and governs data collection and usage. For the purposes of this Privacy Policy, unless otherwise noted, all references to the Organization include The Children’s Museum and preschool, www.thechildrensmuseumct.org, Roaring Brook Nature Center, www.roaringbrook.org and purchase.thechildrensmuseumct.org. By using the Organization’s websites, you consent to the data collection, uses, sharing and other practices described in this policy.
California Consumer Privacy Act and California Privacy Rights Act
If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (“CCPA”) and California Privacy Rights Act (“CPRA”):

– Right to Non-Discriminate. The Organization will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
Children Under Thirteen
The Organization follows the principles of the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (“COPPA”), the GDPR, and any other local laws pertaining to the collection of children’s data. Any accounts or subscriptions created for users known to be children will involve parental notification and/or consent.
The Organization may collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13.
If you are under the age of 13, you must ask your parent or guardian for permission to use our websites. If you are a parent and you have questions regarding our data collection practices, please contact us using the information provided at the end of this Policy. If we discover that we have collected a child’s personal data without parental consent, we will delete it as soon as possible, unless we have a legal obligation to keep it. California residents under 16 years of age may have additional rights regarding the collection and sale of their personal information.
Collection of your Personal Information
In order to better provide you with products and services offered, the Organization may collect personally identifiable information, such as your:

If you purchase the Organization’s products and services, we collect billing and credit card information. This information is used to complete the purchase transaction.
The Organization may also collect anonymous demographic or other information, which is not unique to you, such as your:

– Employment information
– Geographic or other location identifiers
– Place of birth
– Date of birth
Please keep in mind that if you directly disclose personally identifiable information or personally sensitive data through the Organization’s public message boards, this information may be collected and used by others.
The Organization does not intentionally collect any personal information about you unless you voluntarily provide it to us or if other people provide it to us, such as if someone gifts or otherwise provides a membership to you, purchases something that is sent by or for us to you, etc. You may be required to provide certain personal information to us when you elect to use certain products or services. These may include: (a) registering for a membership or other account; (b) entering a sweepstakes or contest sponsored by us or one of our partners; (c) signing up for special offers from selected third parties; (d) sending us an email message; (e) submitting your credit card or other payment information when ordering and purchasing products and services.(f) registering yourself or your child for camps, classes, hikes, events, etc. The Organization will use your information for, but not limited to, communicating with you in relation to services and/or products you have requested from us. The Organization also may gather, use and share additional personal or non-personal information in the future as a result of this.
Use of your Personal Information
The Organization collects and uses your personal information in the following ways:
– to enable you to set up manage a membership or other account for you with us, and to enable us to operate and provide such membership or other account;
– to enable you to set up and provide memberships to others and to enable us to operate and provide such memberships;
– to provide maintain, and improve our websites;
– to determine which aspects of our websites and the services provided are the most popular or used, which webpages are visited and the frequency any visits, and what you may click on while you are visiting our websites;
– to operate and provide you with information, products, or services that you have requested or purchased from us;
– to provide others with products and services that you have requested or purchased from us for them;
– to provide you with notices about your account;
– to carry out the Organization’s obligations and to enforce our rights arising from any contracts entered between you and us, including for billing and collection;
– to notify you about changes to www.thechildrensmuseumct.org or other Organization website or any products or services we offer or provide through it;

– to monitor usage of the Organization’s websites and trends, needs, and identify further development, improvements and other changes that may be needed or desired;

The Organization may also use your personally identifiable information to inform you of other products or services available from the Organization and its affiliates.
Sharing Information with Third Parties
The Organization does not sell, rent, or lease its customer lists to third parties.
The Organization may share data with trusted partners to help perform statistical analysis, send you email or postal mail, provide customer support, arrange for deliveries, or store your data. All such third parties are prohibited from using your personal information except to provide these services to the Organization, and they are required to maintain the confidentiality of your information.

Automatically Collected Information
The Organization may automatically collect information about your computer hardware and software. This information can include your IP address, browser type, domain names, access times, and referring website addresses. This information is used for the operation of the service, to maintain quality of the service, and to provide general statistics regarding the use of the Organization’s website and services.
Right to Deletion
Subject to certain exceptions set out below, on receipt of a verifiable request from you, we will:
– Delete your personal information from our records; and
– Direct any service providers to delete your personal information from their records.

Please note that we may not be able to comply with requests to delete your personal information if it is necessary to:
– complete the transaction for which the personal information was collected, fulfill the terms of a written warranty or product recall conducted in accordance with federal law, and provide a good or service requested by you, or reasonably anticipated within the context of our ongoing business relationship with you, or otherwise perform a contract between you and us;
– detect security incidents, protect against malicious, deceptive, fraudulent, or illegal activity; or prosecute those responsible for that activity;
– debug to identify and repair errors that impair existing intended functionality;
– exercise free speech, ensure the right of another consumer to exercise his or her right of free speech, or exercise another right provided for by law;
– comply with the California Electronic Communications Privacy Act;
– engage in public or peer-reviewed scientific, historical, or statistical research in the public interest that adheres to all other applicable ethics and privacy laws, when our deletion of the information is likely to render impossible or seriously impair the achievement of such research, provided we have obtained your informed consent;
– enable solely internal uses that are reasonably aligned with your expectations based on your relationship with us, your visit to the Organization, or your purchase of services or products from the Organization;
– comply with an existing legal obligation or governmental inquiry; or
– otherwise use your personal information, internally, in a lawful manner that is compatible with the context in which you provided the information.
Email Communications
From time to time, the Organization may contact you via email for the purpose of providing announcements, promotional offers, alerts, confirmations, surveys, and/or other general communication. In order to improve our services, we may receive a notification when you open an email from the Organization or click on a link therein.
If you would like to stop receiving marketing or promotional communications via email from the Organization, you may opt out of such communications by clicking on the unsubscribe button.
Photographs, Videos and Audio
The Organization may take and collect photographs, videos and audio recordings of visitors for educational, marketing and promotion, communication, Organization development and other purposes. Upon your admission to any Organization museum or other location, you give the Organization permission to take, record, edit, share and use photographs, video and/or audio recordings of you and all acOrganizationing minors. You also give the Organization, along with its agents, successors and assigns, the full rights to use these photographs and video and/or audio recordings, without any prior or other compensation or notice to you or anyone else, for such education, marketing and promotion, communication, Organization development and other purposes. No rights of any kind to such photographs and video and/or audio recordings are or will be provided to you, and all such rights, and the ownership thereof, shall be maintained by the Organization.
Social Media
The Organization’s websites provide social media and other sharing features, options and tools that can enable you to share things from our websites, and your actions on our websites, with other people, social media sites, other websites, etc. Your use of such features, options and tools may cause sharing of information about you and others, your visit to the Organization, your use of the Organization’s websites, etc., with others, including the public, depending on the settings that you have implemented on the social media sites and other websites or services that you are using.
Changes to This Policy
The Organization reserves the right to change this Policy from time to time. For example, when there are changes in our services or websites, changes in our data protection practices, or changes in the law. When changes to this Policy are significant, we will inform you. You may receive a notice by sending an email to the primary email address specified in your account, by placing a prominent notice on our websites, and/or by updating any privacy information. Your continued use of any of the websites and/or services available after such modifications will constitute your: (a) acknowledgment of the modified Policy; and (b) agreement to abide and be bound by that modified Policy.
