Scout Programs

 

Roaring Brook Nature Center offers a wide variety of programs that can take place either at the center or at your school.  The Nature Center itself has a small interpretive building and 5 miles of hiking trails on about 100 acres of a state owned wildlife preserve.The Nature Center also offers general seasonal walks or walks with a particular focus (for example birds, reptiles, etc.).

Girl Scout Programs

Daisy Scouts - We offer seasonal nature walk designed to help scouts' awareness and appreciation of their natural environment.

BROWNIE, JUNIOR & CADETTE BADGES!

We can help you fulfill portions of the the following Girl Scout badges and other portions of the Journey activities:

Information

Scout programs are weekdays afternoons and Saturdays. 

1.25-hour program - $175 minimum 
     Cost: $10 per Scout; No charge for scout leaders/chaperones; $10 per extra adult
             $10 per non-scout sibling over the age of 4
       
2-hour program (for Junior Scout Groups only) - $175 minimum. 
     Cost: $14 per Scout;
No charge for scout leaders/chaperones
             $14 per extra adult
             $14 per non-scout sibling over the age of 4

A $175.00 nonrefundable deposit must accompany your registration form with the balance due and payable the day of your Troop's visit.

How to Register - Please call the Nature Center to set up a date and time for your program.  Then, fill out the registration form and send it to Roaring Brook Nature Center with your deposit.   No further confirmation will be necessary.  If we do not receive your registration within two weeks of phone registration, we will contact you.  Dates cannot be held without a deposit.

Refunds & Rescheduling - If your Troop must cancel due to inclement weather, every effort will be made to reschedule on another date without additional charge.  Advance notification is necessary in order to reschedule a program without loss of deposit.

Additional Information - These are OUTDOOR PROGRAMS.  Please make sure that scouts dress appropriately for the existing weather conditions.  Remember, it may be colder or wetter here than at your house.  For additional information, please contact the Nature Center.
 

 


 

Boy Scouts / Cub Scouts

Webelos - We will cover the following requirements for these badges:

    • Webelos Adventure : Webelos Walkabout - 1, 2, 3, 6, and 7.
    • Webelos/AOL Elective Adventure: Castaway - 1a, 1c, 2a, 2f, 2g.
    • Webelos/AOL Elective Adventure: Earth Rocks! - 1a, 1b, 2, 3a, 3b, 4, 5, 6 a, 6b, 7a or 7b.
    • Webelos/AOL Elective Adventure: Into the Wild - 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9a.
    • Webelos/AOL Elective Adventure: Into the Woods - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7.

Bear Scouts - We will cover the following requirements for these badges:

    • Bear Adventure: Fur, Feathers, and Ferns - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6.
    • Bear Elective Adventure: Beat of the Drum - 1 and 3, 4, or 5;
    • Bear Elective Adventure:  Critter Care - 5, 6, and 7.- 1, 2, 3, 6 and 7.

Wolf Scouts - We will cover the following requirements for these badges:

    • Wolf Adventure: Paws on the Path - 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7.
    • Wolf Adventure: Finding Your Way - 1a, 3a, 3b, 4, and 5.
    • Wolf Adventure: Spirit of the Water - 1 and 2.

Tiger Cubs - We will cover the following requirements for these badges:

    • Tiger Adventure: Backyard Jungle - 1, 2, 3, and 5.
    • Tiger Adventure: Tigers in the Wild - 1, 2, 4, 6 and 7.
    • Tiger Adventure: Sky is the Limit - 1, 2, 3, 6 and 8. (This special evening program is $10 per scout or sibling)

Roaring Brook Nature Center is also a great place to fulfill Community Service Projects, including Eagle Scout Badge requirements! 

Bear and Webelo groups wishing to work toward the
Cub Scout World Conservation Award
may do so by fulfilling requirements and/or doing service projects
at the Nature Center.
